I was bragging a bit to a friend the other day...how my all too sweet newborn was sleeping almost throughout the night. J had gotten to a bit of a great schedule - down by 10pm and up at 2 am to nurse, then finally up again at 6am, in time for me to wake and to energize with my coffee.
No sweat, this new mothering thing, right? J is our fourth babe and just jumped in the groove. Because of her predictability I was already looking at solo-mama summer activities. Surely I can take a couple of fun night classes, and be absolutely refreshed because I "should" have a baby that will sleep through the night sure enough.
But Murphy came along and slapped my hands and sent me a reality check the other night.
Yes, that would be in the A.M. And the key to this picture is that I did not sleep a wink before and after the picture was taken. Sweet Baby J was up up up, nursing and nursing until 6 in the morning, when she decided to sleep. For 4 hours straight. Argh.....
Well, now, I dare say that I haven't had an all nighter since I was an Army Nurse, and yes, it is still just as I remembered : painful.
So, it is an absolute miracle that I even completed this:
I know it's summer! But I will gladly use my excuse that I was utterly pregnant and unorganized during the winter months to complete it.
It's for my bro, who just returned from a deployment. To match these mitts I made him last year.
Pattern: Ribbed Beanie by Wooly Wormhead
Needles: Sz 8 circulars and dpns
Yarn: Wool of the Andes Bulky
Super easy knit! And I completed it with the television as the only light on the night I stayed up with J. Thank goodness for easy rib patterns!
...and that she slept well last night. Had it not been for this and the chocolate my hubby brought me to ease my sleeplessness, I think I would have gone cukoo.
:)
