I'm in that gap in between deadtired and wideawake, knowing full well that if I don't sleep soon, I'll be suffering tomorrow for #5amwritersclub. Still, I've got my mind set on wiping down the counters my tween didn't quite do so well after dinner. That, and maybe folding one load of laundry. Better yet, I may catch my very first episode of Reign on Netflix, which a friend told me was the best thing since season 1 of the Tudors.
I deserve it though, after today. I'm trying to get ahead of this winter, just slightly. An arctic blast has been predicted and instead of this midwest winter completely sideswiping me like it last year, I decided to face it head on and be ready, dangit. So I got out our winter stuff to count and realized:
1. We have quite a few mismatched boots that no one fits into.
2. We have equally non-matching outerwear accessories. Most of which are hand-knitted, but clashing nonetheless.
3. In contrast to our outerwear deficiencies, I am however, completely stocked with yarn. (these are just four skeins from my stash in the basement)
5. I won't tell you about my book stash. This is was just on the stairs. I have little piles everywhere, and more in my kindle app.
I'm not sure if this post is making me look like a bad mama or completely and utterly ready to be snowed in. Either way, I am counting (bilangin) all of my little blessings today. A bottle of wine and chocolates a neighbor brought over, cookies and a plant from another, a picture Baby J made for me earlier, and anticipated email. Yarn and books and cross-stitch, gloves that are falling apart and boots that don't fit. Me yelling for my Bigs down the street: Come home it's time to eat!
C'mon arctic blast. I'm ready for you!
p.s. I bought boots and gloves, and neutral beanies for my Bigs, and paid for expedited shipping.
