I promise I haven't gone away! I think I fooled myself into thinking that I would have more time to do stuff during the summertime. But summer has proven itself to be more busy, and by the end of the day, and especially in the middle of a heat wave, I am aboslutely, positively pooped.
Four things though:
1. We survived a crazy storm here in the DC area. Miraculously, our neighborhood was spared with only about 8 hours without power and 24 hours without cable. So many folks, however, are still without power. I'm grateful tonight, to use my oven, and have my AC on, especially since I've been under the weather.
Kale Chips: Kale, olive oil, sea salt
Preheat oven to 285 degF. Wash & clean kale. When dry, drizzle with olive oil, and use your fingers to ensure the olive oil covers the leaves. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 20 minutes.
2. Summer reading has been wonderful. I have quite a few books on my wish list that came in from the library, but I'm working on these two for now. I recommend them!
I always get a kick out of seeing my kids get in line for the library's summer reading program! I wish I could do one too! Can someone form one? With prizes? Just a thought.
3. Baby J,our now 26-month-old (I KNOW! So fast! Wasn't she just born?), insists I sit next to her crib as she falls asleep at night. To pass the time, I've been sewing up hexagons.
I'm using all of my scraps! I have seen quite a few vintage quilts in our recent travels, and the handpiecing just astounded me! So, I'm working on my own technique. My hexagons aren't perfect, but I love them anyway.
4. I'm still writing like a feind! Revising, entering contests, getting input from readers, and incorporating suggestions. My manuscript has come so far! I've learned so much! No picture associated with this, but here's a link to a small pat on the back I received. It came at a time when I really needed it.
I hope the last two weeks have gone well for all of you! Wishing you a good day!
